Increase Impact. Without Losing Your Soul.
After 20 years in leadership coaching, my business is getting a reboot now that we have moved back to Greensboro, NC. A new office. New business cards. You know the drill. I am meeting new people every day, and I get the inevitable (but welcome) question: So what do you do? Well, I answer…
I help leaders increase their impact without losing their soul!
If you lead anything, doesn’t that idea resonate? Greater and more authentic results from your labors... without losing your authenticity, your values, your health, or your joy in the process. Exactly.
I know I need this kind of direction, encouragement, and accountability in my vocational journey, and I suspect we all do. So I invite you take a few minutes right now to describe what this kind of result would look like in your sphere of leadership...
What would greater impact look like for you? More qualitative or quantitative? Deeper or wider? Who specifically would you like to impact? What metrics (even in your own mind) would matter most to you? In other words, how would you know that your impact was larger or better?
Alternatively, what does it look like for you to lose your soul? You personally. Do you get anxious, angry, or sad? Do you feel fragmented, out of balance, or at odds with yourself? How does this affect your physical vitality? Your home-life?
As leaders in some capacity, these are the tensions we carry. They are “the burden of leadership,” in one sense—but it doesn't have to be burdensome. If it feels burdensome, then something is out of alignment.
Which leads me to my favorite set of Red Words, that speaks to all of us whether you are spiritually-minded or not: "Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly” (Jesus in Mt 11, msg).
Freely and Lightly. That's my goal. How about you?
